Man Accused Of Killing Wife, Shooting Self Dies

Frank Bass Was Accused Of Stabbing, Shooting His Wife Ginger

POSTED: 6:43 am PST March 11, 2010

A man accused of, but never charged with, killing his former wife nearly two years ago after an acrimonious divorce has died from complications of a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the abdomen, it was reported Thursday.

Frank Bass, 54, died Feb. 13 at Edgemoor Hospital in Santee, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Both his legs had been amputated at the knees and all his fingers had been amputated at mid-knuckle because of circulation problems associated with the shotgun wound, sheriff's Lt. Dennis Brugos told the newspaper.

Bass shot himself May 31, 2008, the same day he stabbed and shot his former wife, Ginger Bass, 51, authorities said. The alleged murder-suicide attempt happened three days after the couple's eight-year marriage was dissolved.

In her divorce filing, Ginger Bass claimed her husband raped her and vowed the only way they would be apart would be through death.

Frank Bass was never charged in his wife's death because of his medical condition.
