Boy Hospitalized After Being Hit By Truck
9-Year-Old Suffered Severe Head Trauma

SAN MARCOS, Calif. -- A 9-year-old boy was hospitalized Thursday with severe head trauma after being struck by a full-size pickup truck in San Marcos, authorities said.The boy was hit while running across South Rancho Santa Fe Road, near Highway 78, around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, said San Diego County sheriff's Deputy Charles Morreale. The driver of the truck immediately stopped, he said.
Paramedics flew the boy to Rady Children's Hospital, according to Morreale.
