Man In Hillcrest Chase Arrested, 2 Kids Injured

SAN DIEGO -- A 20-year-old man is behind bars Wednesday after leading police on a pursuit in a stolen pickup truck in the Hillcrest area, injuring two children in another vehicle in the process, police said.The truck was stolen while being serviced at Mission Hills Automotive on Washington Avenue Tuesday afternoon, said San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.Around 3:10 p.m., a patrol officer spotted the stolen truck and the pursuit began, he said.
The truck broadsided another vehicle after running a red light during the pursuit, injuring an 18-month-old and a 2-year-old passenger in the second vehicle, the father of the children told 10News.The truck's driver then intentionally rammed a patrol car involved in the pursuit before crashing into a hot dog stand, Delimitros said.The driver bailed on foot after hitting the hot dog stand but was quickly caught, he said. His name was not immediately released.
