'Give a Day, Get a Disney Day' Program Ends
Program Reached Goal Of 1 Million In 10 Weeks

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- A Disney parks program aimed at inspiring community service reached its goal of getting 1 million people to volunteer their time for a good cause, it was announced Wednesday."By any measure, the 'Give a Day, Get a Disney Day' program exceeded our expectations," said Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. "These one million volunteers touched their communities with their hearts and hands."The "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" initiative, in which participants receive free admission to Disney World or Disneyland, was started 10 weeks ago and has already drawn commitments from 1 million people in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
Disney's partner in the project is the HandsOn Network.Although registration for the program has ended, those interested in volunteering may search for opportunities through HandsOn Network at http://HandsOnNetwork.org.
