Jim Duffy Announces Candidacy For Sheriff

SAN DIEGO -- Jim Duffy, a 27-year law enforcement veteran, announced his candidacy for San Diego County Sheriff Wednesday.Duffy was chief of staff for county Supervisor Ron Roberts but resigned late year to spend more time on his campaign.He is also the past president of the Deputy Sheriffs' Association of San Diego County, which endorsed him for Sheriff last August, touting his experience, knowledge and commitment to public safety.
Sheriff Bill Gore, who is also in the running, was appointed by county supervisors last summer after Sheriff Bill Kolender resigned mid-term. Gore was undersheriff at the time and is also a former FBI Special Agent in Charge in San Diego.Other people who have said they will run include ex-state legislator and former Undersheriff Jay LaSuer and former sheriff's Sgt. Bruce Ruff.
