SAN DIEGO -- Two men are in custody Wednesday on suspicion of robbing a credit union branch in the Roseville/Fleetridge area, police said.A man entered the Point Loma Community Credit Union branch office at 1350 Rosecrans St. around 12:40 p.m. Tuesday and handed a teller a note demanding money, San Diego police Sgt. Ramona Hastings said.The teller complied and the man walked out with his stolen cash onto Emerson Street, where he was joined by a second man, she said.
A bank employee and a customer followed the pair onto Rosecrans Street from a safe distance while talking to police on their cell phones, according to the sergeant.Police arrived and arrested Richard Wayne Lewis, 40, and Jeffrey Steven Alfaro, 38, Hastings said, adding that the stolen money was recovered.
