UPDATED: 5:04 pm PST February 15, 2010

A California Highway Patrol pursuit of a speeder ended in a crash and arrest on Interstate 5 Monday.

An officer around 8:20 a.m. spotted the vehicle going about 120 mph on westbound state Route 54, and the young female driver, identified as 18-year-old Carlie Shultz of Spring Valley, wouldn't pull over, CHP Officer Jesse Udovich said.

The officer pursued the car for about six minutes at speeds above 100 mph until the car lost control and crashed after taking an interchange to northbound Interstate 5 in National City, Udovich said.

The officer said no other cars were involved in the collision, and no one was hurt.

Shultz was arrested on suspicion of reckless evading, according to the officer.
