Sign Off I-5 Pushes For More San Diego Jobs

If you're driving along Interstate 5, you can't miss it -- a sign on the side of a building at the Main Street exit just north of National City that reads, "Obama. San Diego needs jobs, not speeches." It was put up by the Dimensional Silk Screen printing company.

"We wanted to make a statement because our business and every business in San Diego is affected by jobs," said Bernard Tardy, the company's owner.

Dimensional's business is down an estimated 15 percent, and they've gone from 19 employees to 16. The sign mentions Obama, but it is aimed at Congress and all the other decision makers in the country.

"They just can't seem to get the message, and the message is jobs," said Tardy.

Tardy's son, Michael, agrees.

"Whether you're a Republican or a Democrat, anyone can agree that more jobs need to be created," said Michael Tardy, the company's president.

The company has been in San Diego for 32 years and for four years straight, they've been named one of the top 25 companies of their kind in the country, producing digital and large format graphics.

Bernard Tardy said the key to creating more jobs is tax cuts and tax credits. He said that's what stimulates businesses to do something.

They plan to keep the sign up for at least a month, and hope it inspires other people to take action.
