NATIONAL CITY, Calif. -- A 30-year-old man is in custody Tuesday after leading authorities on a high-speed chase from Bonita to National City while driving a large U-haul truck following a domestic violence incident, authorities said.Deputies were called to the 5000 block of Cedarwood Road in Bonita at 8:42 p.m. Monday to investigate an incident of domestic violence, said San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Jerry Hartman. Arriving deputies saw the man -- later identified as Malik Mosi -- drive off and followed him, he said.Mosi refused to pull over on the westbound onramp to the South Bay Freeway from Briarwood and a pursuit ensued, jumping from the freeway onto Highland Avenue, according to Hartman.During the pursuit, Mosi ran several red lights and stop signs and struck the driver's side of a sheriff's patrol vehicle, disabling the car but not injuring the deputy inside, Hartman said. The vehicle pursuit ended at 30th Street and Hoover Avenue in National City, where the U-haul truck ran over a curb and rammed a National City police vehicle before crashing into a transformer box, disabling the truck, Hartman said. The officer in the National City police vehicle suffered minor injuries as a result of the truck striking his vehicle, the sergeant said.San Diego Gas & Electric reported a couple of businesses were without power early today due to the damaged transformer.Mosi bailed after the transformer crash and suffered minor cuts and scrapes when he scaled a razor wire fence, according to Hartman. He was arrested a short time later, after deputies followed a blood trail and found him hiding in a business yard, he said.Mosi was treated at Paradise Valley Hospital and released, Hartman said, adding that he was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, felony failure to yield and domestic violence-related charges.
