SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson faces two misdemeanor charges stemming from a traffic stop hours before the team's playoff game two weeks ago.

The Pro Bowl receiver was pulled over by a San Diego police officer on January 17 for playing the music in his car too loud. During the traffic stop, the officer learned Jackson's registration was expired and his license was suspended. According to the SDPD, Jackson was taken out of his vehicle and handcuffed for a short period of time. With the choice to take Jackson to jail or cite him, the officer cited the wide receiver and impounded his vehicle.

Quarterback Philip Rivers drove Jackson to the game, sources told 10News.

According to the San Diego City Attorney's Office, Jackson was charged Tuesday with driving without a valid license and driving while privilege is suspended -- both misdemeanors. He was also charged with having an expired registration, which is a fineable offense. The maximum penalties for the misdemeanors are six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

Jackson is on probation after being convicted in 2006 for driving under the influence. He is also facing a DUI charge from 2009 that is still pending.
