SAN DIEGO -- City Councilmen Ralph Inzunza and Michael Zucchet both claimed that they have done nothing wrong in regards to an FBI investigation.
"I do not know what this investigation is all about. But I can tell you, confidently, that I have done absolutely nothing wrong," Inzunza said during a press conference (pictured, left)."I can tell you that we are going to continue forward with the city, we have a budget to work on," he added.Inzunza spoke shortly before the City Council met for a meeting.Zucchet (pictured, far left) also responded to the FBI investigation at the beginning of the council meeting."I answered all questions that investigators had for me. I will continue to cooperate and I believe I have done nothing wrong," Zucchet said.Zucchet also thanked his family and friends for "overwhelming support" during the past week.It was the council's first meeting since FBI agents raided the offices of Inzunza, Zucchet and Charles Lewis last week in a corruption probe. The investigation is reported to be aimed at determining if public officials were bribed in an effort to water down city laws on dancers at local strip clubs.Current laws require a 6-foot space between the dancers and customers and no touching. Club owners complain the restrictions cut down on revenues. The Cheetahs strip club in Kearny Mesa was also raided last week.
