5 Chargers Earn Pro Bowl Roster Spots

SAN DIEGO -- Five members of the 2009 AFC West champion San Diego Chargers were selected for the 2010 Pro Bowl squad, 10News reported.Named to the team were quarterback Philip Rivers, tight end Antonio Gates, guard Kris Dielman, kicker Nate Kaeding and special-teamer Kassim Osgood.Rivers was named to the team for the second time in his career. He has thrown 27 touchdown passes for the 12-3 Bolts.
Gates goes to the Pro Bowl for the sixth straight year. He leads all NFL tight ends in receiving yards (1,145) and has scored seven times.Dielman and Osgood are making their third trip to the Pro Bowl, with Kaeding earning a spot on the team for the second time in his career.Running back Darren Sproles, wideout Vincent Jackson, tackle Marcus McNeill, cornerback Antonio Cromartie, punter Mike Scifres were named as Pro Bowl alternates.The Chargers are locked in as the AFC's No. 2 seed when the postseason begins. The team will have a first-round bye and play their Divisional Round game the weekend of Jan. 16. They take on the Washington Redskins in this Sunday's regular-season finale at Qualcomm Stadium.
