Apartment Manager Accused Of Molestation Pleads Guilty

Enrique Lopez Torres, 55, To Be Sentenced To 5 Years In Prison

UPDATED: 6:09 pm PST December 29, 2009

A man who propositioned young girls at the Fallbrook apartment building he managed and grabbed an 11-year-old girl near a bus stop, telling her he wanted to have sex with her, pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony charges.

Enrique Lopez Torres will be sentenced on Jan. 28 to five years in prison, said Deputy District Attorney Kelly Mok. Torres, 55, will also be required to register as a sex offender for life, the prosecutor said.

The defendant pleaded guilty -- on the day his preliminary hearing was to take place -- to two counts of false imprisonment and one count each of committing a lewd act on a child 14 or 15 and possession of child pornography.

Torres was arrested Sept. 10, after he was seen propositioning young girls in his building and at the nearby bus stop, authorities said.

A day before his arrest, Torres grabbed an 11-year-old girl's hand, holding onto it until she broke free. The incident occurred in the 200 block of Clemmens Lane, near the school bus stop, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's deputies were keeping surveillance of the same bus stop when they spotted Torres in front of an apartment complex at 233 W. Clemmens Lane, watching and waving to two girls on Sept. 10. He blocked the girls' paths and spoke to them, deputies said.

Because he matched the description of the man in the hand-grabbing incident, Torres was arrested on suspicion of three counts of annoying or molesting a child and one count of false imprisonment with violence, according to the sheriff's department.

A later search of Torres' home yielded several Polaroid photographs of girls 10 to 15 years old in the nightstand next to his bed, deputies said, adding that some of the girls had been photographed in sex acts with him.

Torres was re-booked on three counts of committing a lewd act with a child and 24 counts of possessing child pornography.

Torres has lived in Downey in Southeast Los Angeles County, on Kellogg Drive in San Marcos and possibly in Escondido.

His known aliases are Enrique Lopez, Fernando Hank Lopez, Hank Fernando Lopez, Enrique Enrique, Enrique Fernando Lopez and Enrique Torres Lopez, according to the sheriff's department.
