SAN DIEGO -- A 21-year-old man died Saturday from injuries he suffered a day earlier in Pacific Beach, when he apparently jumped into a moving pickup truck, fell to the ground and was ran over by the same vehicle.

Police said 21-year-old Zachary Dominguez of Huntington Beach was running along the side of a moving Ford F-250 around 9:15 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of Garnet Avenue, said San Diego police Officer Mike McGruder.

Police say he jumped into the truck, fell, and was run over. The pickup truck's 25-year-old driver waited for police to arrive and was not under the influence of any substance.

Dominguez was taken to a trauma center where he was diagnosed with closed head injuries. His condition failed to improve he was pronounced dead. An examination is yet to be scheduled.

According to the Medical Examiner, Dominguez was married, and lived with his wife in Garden Grove, California.
