POSTED: 10:06 am PST December 2, 2009

A Camp Pendleton-based Marine who died in a Thanksgiving Day rollover crash in Morongo Valley was identified Wednesday by base officials.

Lance Cpl. Brian J. Adams, 21, of Battleground, Wash. was one of two passengers in a 2007 Saturn that crashed on eastbound state Route 62, west of Desert Willow Trail, around 2:20 a.m. Nov. 26, according to Camp Pendleton Public Affairs Officer 1st Lt. Kendra Hardesty.

Adams died at the scene of the solo-vehicle crash. The driver, discharged Marine Charles Hutchinson, 20, of Charlestown, W. Va., died Friday in a hospital, according to published reports. The other passenger was injured but listed in stable condition, Hardesty said.

Adams joined the Marine Corps in May 2008 and was a motor vehicle operator for Combat Logistics Battalion 7, Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group. He was a recipient of the National Defense Medal and Global War on Terrorism Medal. He most recently worked out of Twentynine Palms.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating the crash.

A private memorial was scheduled for Friday.
