Samuel Brians Faces An Attempted Murder Charge In The Incident

IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. -- A man was arrested Monday morning on suspicion of shooting his 41-year-old girlfriend in the face at her South Bay apartment, leaving her in critical condition, a sheriff's official reported.The shooting in the 1400 block of Holly Avenue in Imperial Beach was reported about 10:15 p.m. Sunday, Lt. Dennis Brugos said.Medics took the victim to UCSD Medical Center, where physicians put her on life-support equipment and listed her condition as "grave," Brugos said.Her boyfriend, Samuel Durwood Brians, 32, was arrested about 6 a.m. at a home on Evergreen Avenue, roughly two miles from the site of the shooting.Brians was booked into county jail on suspicion of attempted murder. He was being held without bail pending an arraignment hearing scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
