Motorist Called 911 After Seeing Body On Side Of The Road

SAN DIEGO -- A body was found along the side of state Route 163 this Friday morning, near Interstate 8, authorities said.The body appeared to be that of a pedestrian, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Ray Scheidnes. It was found on southbound 163, just north of I-8, by a passing motorist who called 911 at 5:25 a.m.The officer at the scene said the body appeared to be a woman, but Scheidnes said he could not immediately confirm that report.A SigAlert was in effect, issued while the Hotel Circle offramp from southbound 163 was closed, as was the westbound I-8 transition ramp from southbound 163. Both roadways were open as of 7:15 a.m., the CHP reported.
