Man Arrested After National City Pursuit

SAN DIEGO -- An ex-con was arrested Wednesday after a vehicle and foot pursuit through South San Diego and National City.The chase started around 3:45 p.m. on Gamma Street when an officer witnessed a traffic violation and thought the driver might be a probationer with a weapon, Officer Daniel McLaughlin said.The officer pursued the suspect in a chase that alternated between surface streets and the 805 Freeway. McLaughlin said the suspect crashed into another car along the way, but there were no injuries.The suspect got out of his car on the 805 at Plaza Boulevard and ran into National City, but he was captured on Eighth Street, he said.The officer said it was unknown if the man actually possessed a weapon.
