Teen Robbed At Gunpoint At Helix High School

SAN DIEGO -- Police are looking for four suspects who robbed a 14-year-old boy at gunpoint on a high school campus during an athletic event, but did not harm him, officials said.The 14-year-old boy was watching a Friday night water polo game at Helix High School, 7323 University Avenue, when he went looking for a restroom around 8:35 p.m. when he was confronted by four suspects in a dark area of the campus, said La Mesa police Lt. Matt Nicholass.One of the suspects asked the boy if he had change for a $10 bill before pulling out a handgun and pointing it at the victim, Nicholass said.
The suspect with the gun went through the victim's pockets and took his cell phone and wallet, he said. The suspects then fled toward the student parking lot. The victim was not injured, according to Nicholass.Several La Mesa police officers searched the area but could not find the suspects, he said.The armed suspect was described as a black male, around 16 to 18 years old and between 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall. He has a medium build, a number of silver-capped teeth and dreadlocks in his hair, according to Nicholass.A second suspect was described as a black male who is in the same age range as the first suspect and also has dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and sunglasses in his head.The third suspect was a white male of unknown age, and last seen wearing a white and gray zip-up sweatshirt, diamond earrings and dark pants.The victim could not provide a description of the fourth male suspect who was hiding behind some bushes during the robbery, Nicholass said.Investigators asked anyone with any information about the suspects or the robbery to call the La Mesa police department at (619) 667-1400.
