Man Robs Spring Valley Liquor Store At Gunpoint

Joshua Kimble In Custody

POSTED: 4:27 am PST November 19, 2009

A 21-year-old man was in custody Thursday on suspicion of robbing a Spring Valley liquor store at gunpoint, authorities said.

Joshua Kimble was arrested shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of robbing La Presa Liquor, 9410 Jamacha Blvd., earlier in the day, according to San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. David Pocklington.

Kimble allegedly brandished a pistol when he took an undisclosed amount of cash from the liquor store around 11:30 a.m.

Deputies responding to a report of the robbery spotted a man matching the robber's description leaving the area in a car, but he sped away and evaded arrest, Pocklington said.

A short time later, the car was found abandoned in the 1300 block of San Miguel Avenue, and evidence found in the vehicle led authorities to identify Kimble as a suspect, according to Pocklington.

At 3:09 p.m., deputies spotted Kimble in the 8900 block of Jamacha Road and arrested him without further incident on suspicion of armed robbery, the Sheriff's Department reported.
