Student Allegedly Brings Gun To UEI College

SAN DIEGO -- A man who attends a Serra Mesa vocational school was arrested Wednesday for allegedly bringing a loaded pistol to the campus, authorities reported.Another student at UEI College on Kearny Villa Road spotted the gun in the man's backpack about 9:30 a.m. and sent a text message to her father, who made a 911 call, according to San Diego police.Officers arrived within 15 minutes and arrested the man without incident, SDPD Detective Gary Hassen said. It was unclear why the man, who made no threats, might have been carrying the gun, he said.
The man's name was not immediately available.
