UPDATED: 10:32 am PST November 15, 2009

Hundreds came together in Point Loma Saturday to remember 56-year-old, Captain John Gaffaney- an army reservist who lived with his family in San Diego.

Captain Gaffney's funeral at Fort Rosecrans was one of many services held across the country for the 13 people killed in the shooting massacre at Fort Hood.

10news reporter Ariana Duarte was there as friends and family gave a final salute to the humble hero. The army reserve Captain had re-enlisted after 9-11, and was stationed at Fort Hood, awaiting depolyment to iraq.

Friends say Gaffaney was willing to give anything for his country, but didn't consider himself a hero. But they say, that's exactly what he is.
