Woman Crossing 163 Hit By At Least 3 Vehicles

SAN DIEGO -- A pedestrian was killed when she attempted to cross state Route 163 at the height of the evening rush hour, officials said Thursday.The woman ran across southbound state Route 163 just north of Friars Road around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday and was run over by at least three vehicles, according to San Diego police Officer David Stafford and California Highway Patrol dispatchers.The woman, whose age and name were not immediately released, died at the scene, Stafford said.Three southbound lanes on the freeway were closed for about two hours, according to CHP. All lanes were reopened by 8 p.m.
