Gunman Robs North Island Credit Union

SAN DIEGO -- The FBI sought public help Monday in locating an armed man who robbed an Imperial Beach credit union.The robber, who is in his mid 20s to early 30s, entered the North Island Credit Union, 1101 Palm Avenue, about 10:45 a.m. Friday, said FBI spokesman Darrell Foxworth.While using a cell phone, the robber approached a teller, presented a demand note and displayed a black, semi-automatic handgun, Foxworth said.
The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the robber who fled on foot in an unknown direction. No one was injured during the holdup, he said.The suspect is described as medium-built Latino or Middle Eastern man, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with dark hair. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt with "Aeropostale" printed on the front, blue jeans, dark shoes, oversized black sunglasses and a gray cap, according to Foxworth.Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the FBI at 858-565-1255.
