Marine Killed In Miramar Crash

POSTED: 8:56 am PST November 7, 2009

A 23-year-old active-duty Marine was killed Saturday when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car on Miramar Road.

The crash occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m., when the driver of an eastbound Lexus sedan made a left turn directly in the path of the oncoming Yamaha motorcycle near Camino Ruiz, according to San Diego police and the county Medical Examiner's Office.

Though he was wearing a helmet, the motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was gravely injured. Witnesses performed CPR on him before the arrival of paramedics, who took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

No other injuries were reported.
