SAN DIEGO -- The 16-year-old girl at the center of the controversy involving a former Helix High School assistant principal told her side of the story to 10News.Josh Stepner, 38, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor after he gave the girl a ride to a bus station. The girl said she was no longer a student at the time Stepner gave her the ride, and she said she told Helix High Vice Principal Kevin Osborne that she was un-enrolling from the school and took the necessary steps to do so.
The girl told 10News she was surprised Stepner is facing charges."He was really just trying to help me. He did absolutely nothing wrong. He was the only one who tried to reach out to me and help me with what I was going through," the girl said.Stepner is due in court December 14, where he will challenge the legitimacy of the misdemeanor charge.
