Police: Man Crashes In Chase After Chula Vista Crowbar Attack

POSTED: 11:22 am PDT October 30, 2009
UPDATED: 4:17 pm PDT October 30, 2009

A fight broke out at the E Street trolley stop in Chula Vista Friday morning and led to a police chase that ended in a crash on I-5, San Diego police told 10News.

One of the people involved in the fight struck another person with a crowbar, authorities said. A passenger waiting for the trolley witnessed the attack and called 911.

Chula Vista police officers were near the stop when the call came in and followed the vehicle in which the alleged perpetrator was believed to be when he left the trolley stop. Police pursued the vehicle on I-5. The car was traveling at approximately 90 miles per hour when the driver took the L street exit in Chula Vista, lost control of his car and hit a tree. There may have been two people in the suspect's car.
