Tina Brewer Had Been Missing Since Oct. 25

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department said a woman's former boyfriend has been charged with criminal homicide after her body was found buried in her own back yard, Nashville television station WSMV reported.

Tina Brewer had not been seen since attending a birthday party with family members on Oct. 25. Two days before, she had filed a restraining order against Leroy Thompson, her former boyfriend.

Investigators said they found Brewer's empty car on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, a sheriff's deputy saw what appeared to be a shallow grave, not more than a foot deep, in the back yard of Brewer's mobile home near the Kentucky state line. Brewer's body was later found wrapped in plastic at the location.

Brewer's mother said her daughter had been a victim of domestic violence for many years.

Thompson was already in custody in Nashville after police caught him driving with a suspended license.

Clarksville police said at a Thursday press conference that Thompson will be transferred to the Montgomery County Jail and charged with criminal homicide. No bond will be set.

Ted Denny of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department said Thompson has had several arrests and was recently arrested on a domestic violence charge against Brewer.
