An 18-year-old alleged drunken driver is behind bars Saturday, arrested after he rolled his pickup truck in San Pasqual and seriously injured his 14-year-old passenger, police said.

The driver was headed west on San Pasqual Valley Road next to the San Diego Wild Animal Park about 11:15 p.m. Friday when he veered onto the shoulder, swerved back across all lanes and hit an embankment on the opposite side, flipping the truck onto its side, said San Diego police Sgt. Joe Steffen.

The passenger was taken to a hospital with a fractured left leg and head trauma, said Steffen. The driver was treated for minor injuries at a hospital. His name was not released.

He was arrested and expected to be charged with child endangerment and felony drunken driving, according to a San Diego Police Department watch commander.
