Dog Sniffs Out Mold In Homes

Wishbone Can Smell Chemicals From Mold

POSTED: 10:11 a.m. PDT April 9, 2003
UPDATED: 12:09 p.m. PDT April 11, 2003

The best test for mold in your home could be walking around on four legs, 10News reported.

Bob Fennema says his dog Wishbone can sniff out mold in homes by smelling chemicals from the mold that leaks out into a room.

"He'll smell it through receptacles and along windowsills and he can smell mold coming out of the ceiling. He's a really sensitive detection animal," Fennema said.

Fennema says he had Wishbone trained to detect mold because he can fit into small areas around home and office furniture.

And so far, Fennema says Wishbone has always been right.
