VISTA, Calif. -- A man suspected to be the ringleader in a rash of raves and parties thrown in vacant homes was ordered to stand trial Thursday, 10News reported.During a preliminary hearing, much of the evidence presented by prosecutors dealt with how the parties were set up and the damage left behind.Jovan Araujo is accused of setting up the raves and parties, including a two-day bash in Fallbrook over the Fourth of July weekend, and another gathering in San Marcos in August.Authorities said the homes where the parties happened were vacant, and the owners were away and unaware that hundreds of people had partied on their property and caused thousands of dollars in damage.Deputy Travis Golling of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said, "Two front windows were broken, a door was kicked in, window on the side was broken …"Goling said Araujo, also known as "Dreams," was the man responsible for setting up the parties."In their eyes, people were rich. They weren't concerned about it as long as they have some fun," said Deputy Jeff Lauhon of the Sheriff's Department.Homeowner Dennis Robbins said, "(There was) a lot of trash … alcohol all over the floor, trash everywhere. Cups, beer cans, bottles, balloons, gum on the floor."Robbins owns the home on Tecolote Drive in Fallbrook, which was the site of the July 4 weekend party.Timothy "Yogi" Michel said in court that he regularly attends these types of parties. He said he has been to nearly 50 raves or parties. He testified that party information is put out on the Internet, and it includes the time, date, the kind of music, the alcohol that will be there and the party's theme. He added that a text message is later provided with the party's location."How soon before the party did you get text message?" asked the prosecutor."A couple of days, an hour … just depends on the party," said Michel.Authorities said partygoers were charged $5 to attend.Authorities also said raves are an underground society and try to operate under police radar.Araujo will face trial on charges of burglary and vandalism. If convicted, he faces six years in prison.Araujo will be arraigned in October.
