Driver Crushed In Semi-Truck Rollover Identified

OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- A tractor-trailer overturned on a North County freeway interchange Thursday, crushing a sedan alongside it and killing the car driver.Gustavo Gracia, 33, was killed about 6:50 a.m. when the big rig rolled over the 2002 Lexus IS 300 he was driving on the curving ramp from southbound Interstate 5 to eastbound State Route 78, according to the California Highway Patrol and county Medical Examiner's Office.Gracia, a Mexican national who had been living in northern San Diego County, died at the scene.Medics took the trucker, 32-year-old Jerry Jimerson of Bellflower, to Tri-City Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, CHP public affairs Officer Eric Newbury said.The freeway connector remained closed for about five hours as investigators documented the scene and crews cleaned up the wreckage.Drugs or alcohol did not appear to be involved, Newbury said. The cause of the accident was under investigation.
