SAN DIEGO -- A California Highway Patrol officer suffered a minor head injury in a traffic collision involving several vehicles Monday near the San Ysidro border inspection station on northbound Interstate 5, authorities said.

The collision happened about 7 a.m., according to a CHP dispatcher.

The injured officer was taken to Sharp Chula Vista hospital for treatment, a San Diego Fire-Rescue dispatcher said.

The officer's patrol car was damaged, but no information was immediately available about the other vehicles, their occupants, or the cause of the crash, said CHP Officer Ray Scheidnes.
