SAN DIEGO -- A woman who said her reputation was ruined by a leader of the San Diego Minutemen is going after him again, 10News reported. The Minutemen recently won a $157,000 settlement from Caltrans but may have to give some of that money to college student Joanne Yoon, who won a $135,000 settlement last May against Minutemen leader Jeff Schwilk.Yoon was an observer at day labor sites where the Minutemen would frequently protest. She won a defamation case against Schwilk when he posted pictures and obscene comments about her on the Internet."I hope that no one goes through what I did," said Yoon. "I don't think justice has been served yet."Yoon said she has not seen any money from the settlement."It didn't have to do with the money. I think that in this case the only way that people such as Jeff Schwilk would stop is to hurt him financially," said Yoon.Yoon's attorney, Dan Gilleon, placed a lien on the settlement against Caltrans won by Schwilk after Caltrans reneged on an agreement to give the group an Adopt-A-Highway cleanup sign near a busy border checkpoint.Gilleon said Schwilk is the beneficiary of any money that comes to the Minutemen, therefore Yoon is entitled to the money."He hasn't been able to pay the settlement; he's trying to run from the verdict and walk away with it without having to face any consequences," said Gilleon.10News contacted Schwilk and his attorney, but both did not want to comment on the case.
