School Honors Little League World Champs

CHULA VISTA, Calif. -- The school that most of the Park View Little League players attend held an assembly Wednesday to honor their victory in the Little League World Series.The players missed nearly a month of classes at Rancho del Rey Middle School while playing in tournaments in San Bernardino and South Williamsport, Pa.They returned to Chula Vista late Monday night to a raucous welcome at the Southwestern College football field.
On Tuesday, they were invited to the San Diego Chargers football facility to watch practice.They will be honored at a community rally Friday, again at Southwestern College.The Park View squad, nicknamed the Blue Bombers, defeated a team from San Antonio last Saturday for the United States championship, then downed Taoyuan, Taiwan, 6-3 Sunday for the Little League World Series crown.
