SAN DIEGO -- Chula Vista's Park View Little League All-Stars traveled Monday to Williamsport, Pa., where they will begin play in the Little League World Series on Saturday.

Park View's first opponent will be the Logan County/Russellville Little League All-Stars of Russellville, Ky., the Great Lakes Regional champion.

While Little League covers the travel expenses for players and coaches, parents have to pay their own way.

To help offset the cost, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation donated $15,000 to get the parents to Williamsport. The San Diego Padres also reportedly contributed $10,000.

"We're very happy to be able to do this and help the parents be part of something so amazing," said Daniel Tucker, chairman of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation. "We hope they have a great time while watching their kids make a run at a Little League World Series title."

Park View on Sunday will face the Peabody Western Little League All-Stars of Peabody, Mass., the New England Regional champion, and McAllister Park American Little League All-Stars of San Antonio, Texas, the Southwest Regional champion, on Aug. 25 to conclude pool play. All three games will be aired on ESPN2.

The winner of the four-team pool will advance to the U.S. semifinals, scheduled for Aug. 26. The U.S. championship is set to for Aug. 29, a day before the championship game against the international champion.

Park View is the ninth San Diego County team to reach the Little League World Series and the first since the Rancho Buena Vista All-Stars in 2005.

The only San Diego County team to win the championship was the 1961 El Cajon/La Mesa Northern Little League All-Stars, whose roster included future San Diego State and Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Sipe.

Park View qualified for the World Series on Sunday with an 11-4 victory over the Lakeside Little League All-Stars of Granite Bay in the Western Regional Final in San Bernardino, breaking a 3-3 tie with five runs in the fifth inning of the six-inning game.

With Lakeside starter Mitch Hart forced to leave the game after reaching the 85-pitch limit with one out in the fifth, reliever Matt McCord walked Bulla Graft, the first batter he faced, on four pitches, then fell behind Luke Ramirez 3-0 and was relieved by Connor Briare.

Ramirez walked and Kiko Garcia was walked intentionally to load the bases. Bradley Roberto drew the fourth consecutive walk off Lakeside pitching, forcing in Graft with the tie-breaking run. Oscar Castro followed with a two-run single.

Park View's final two runs of the inning came on two errors by Brett Munkdale, the Lakeside second baseman.

Park View scored three runs in the sixth on a two-run home run by Ramirez and a solo home run by Garcia. Garcia hit 12 home runs in the six-game regional.

Park View took a 3-0 lead in the first. Alex Rios led off with a line drive home run over the right-field fence and Garcia hit a two-run homer later in the inning.

Lakeside tied the score with three runs in the third on Briare's two-run homer and Grant Powers steal of home. Powers hit a solo homer in the fifth for Lakeside's final run.

Reliever Isaiah Armenta allowed one run over 3 2/3 innings for the victory.

Park View, nicknamed the Green Machine, out-scored its opponents, 98-15 in the regional, hitting 38 home runs.
