A man working at an Oceanside auto body shop was hospitalized Tuesday after being burned by hot coolant, 10News reported.

According to authorities, an employee at the Pep Boys located on Mission Avenue was working on a car when he was sprayed by hot coolant.

He suffered second- and third-degree burns to his crotch area, and medics said he suffered burns to 10 to 12 percent of his body.

He was taken by ambulance to Oceanside Airport, and was then transferred to Mercy Air and flown to the hospital.

The worker's condition is unknown and authorities did not release his identity.
