Memorial Service Planned For Slain Border Patrol Agent

Robert Rosas To Be Buried In El Centro

POSTED: 8:08 pm PDT July 27, 2009

Memorial Services for fallen Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas will take place Friday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials told 10News Monday.

The services will take place on Friday, July 31, 2009, at 9:00 a.m., at Southwest High School, located at 2001 Ocotillo Drive, El Centro, California.

Rosas, a 30-year-old father of two, was tracking a group of suspected illegal immigrants at about 9:15 p.m. near Campo Thursday when he came under fire near the border.

On Friday, federal officials announced a $100,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the attackers.

The Border Patrol ceremony will involve various law enforcement agencies including a Border Patrol Honor Guard, a folded flag presentation, a 21-gun salute, taps, bagpipers, a riderless horse, a missing man fly-over, and a dispatch last call, according to the CBP.

Interment services will be held immediately following the Memorial Service at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro. CBP officials said in a news release.

Public Viewings for Agent Rosas will take place on July 30th, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Faith Assembly Church, located at 320 South J Street, Imperial, California, agency officials said.
