Woman In Motorized Wheelchair Struck By Car

SAN DIEGO -- A 68-year-old woman is hospitalized Thursday after being struck by a car while crossing a Mission Valley intersection in a motorized wheelchair, police said.The woman was crossing with a green light in a crosswalk in the 200 block of Camino de la Reina around 6:30 p.m. Thursday when a 25-year-old man driving a Ford Mustang northbound on Hotel Circle South approached Camino de la Reina, San Diego police Officer Brad Ruff said.The man was looking for freeway signs and did not see the woman as he turned right onto Camino de la Reina, Ruff said.The man was going slow when he struck the woman, according to Ruff, who said she suffered a broken femur in the accident.
