EL CAJON - A nearly 2-year-old boy found floating in an in-ground hot tub in a backyard in El Cajon Thursday died two days later in a hospital, authorities said.
Franz Hiedo, 21 months, was injured in the 400 block of Nila Lane about 12:30 p.m. Thursday and died at 11:37 a.m. Saturday at Rady Children's Hospital, according to Heartland Fire & Rescue and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
A relative had been taking care of the child at the time, Heartland spokeswoman Monica Zech told U-T San Diego.
The Medical Examiner's Office ruled the cause of death "anoxic brain injury due to resuscitated drowning" and the manner of death, an accident.
