SAN DIEGO - Two suspected car thieves are in the hospital Wednesday after leading police in a pursuit through downtown.
The incident began at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of Broadway, when a car owner interrupted two people breaking into his vehicle.
The owner flagged down a San Diego patrol car passing by. Officers saw the suspects jump into a Honda Accord and head eastbound on Broadway.
The suspects, a man and a woman, led police in a pursuit, but eventually crashed in an embankment near B Street and 19th Street. Both were taken to an area hospital for injuries.
