ENCINITAS, Calif. - Sheriff's investigators are looking for some thieves who broke into a classroom at an Encinitas elementary school and stole a dozen iPads in the second such burglary in two days, according to authorities.
A burglary alarm went off at Ada Harris Elementary School at 1508 Windsor Road early Monday morning, according to San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Kevin Menzies.
An alarm also went off at Cardiff Elementary School at 1888 Montgomery Ave. at around 3:10 a.m. Sunday, Menzies said.
A dozen iPads were taken in that burglary, according to a sheriff's department statement.
The culprits entered one of the classrooms, broke off the lock on a storage cabinet and stole a dozen iPad tablets," sheriff's Sgt. Joe Passalacqua said in a statement Sunday.
The total loss from both burglaries is estimated at more than $12,000.
