2 School Bus Accidents In SDUSD; No Injuries

Two school buses carrying students were involved in unrelated accidents minutes apart Friday morning, but there were no injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported.

In the first accident, reported at 6:59 a.m., a van backed into a parked school bus at 54th Street and Pirotte Drive in the Chollas Creek neighborhood, according to a CHP dispatch report. The bus had 23 students aboard, the CHP reported.

The second accident happened just three minutes later in neighboring Emerald Hills at the intersection of Bayview Heights Drive and Federal Boulevard, where a school bus carrying 15 students was struck by a vehicle at a stop sign, the CHP reported.

Both schools buses belong to the San Diego Unified School District, said CHP Officer Rob Sanchez.
