FALLBROOK, Calif. - Two people were taken into custody after a pursuit ended in Fallbrook just west of Interstate 15.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pursuit started at about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. Cal State San Marcos police were pursuing a white Honda heading eastbound on state Route 78. Officers thought the driver may have possibly been driving under the influence.
The vehicle – which was occupied by two Hispanic men – then went northbound on Interstate 15, reaching speeds of 90 to 100 mph.
At that point, the CHP took over the chase and began pursuing the vehicle on I-15. The vehicle exited on state Route 76 and appeared as if it was going to stop, but it got back on I-15. It exited on Mission Road and then headed west.
The pursuit ended just after 2 p.m. after one of the CHP cruisers performed a pit maneuver, which brought the Honda to a stop. Both occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without incident.
More details will be posted as they become available.
