SAN DIEGO - A driver, suspected of driving under the influence,  is in custody Wednesday after a crash that injured two others including a security guard and the driver's girlfriend.

The crash occurred on southbound Interstate 5 near state Route 52 at about 2:30 a.m.

California Highway Patrol officers said the driver rear-ended a security guard patrol car, making it slam into the center divider.

The driver's car went off the freeway's right shoulder and rolled over several times.

The driver was able to get out of the car, but his girlfriend was trapped inside. It took rescuers 15 minutes to extract her from the vehicle.

Both the woman and the security guard were taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was arrested.
