SAN DIEGO - Two young girls who were reported missing in Point Loma Wednesday afternoon were found safe in the Old Town area, according to San Diego police.

Police said 9-year-old Talia Norris and 10-year-old Julissa Gadson were last seen at Dana Middle School (1775 Chatsworth Blvd.) Wednesday morning after being dropped off. The girls did not make it to class, police said.

A parent of one of the girls realized that they were missing upon arriving at the campus in the afternoon to pick them up, SDPD Lt. Scott Wahl said.

Officers searched roadsides, parks and businesses in the neighborhood and surrounding districts for hours before locating the girls about 4:30 p.m.

It was unclear why the girls skipped school or where they spent the day.
