SAN YSIDRO, Calif. - A San Diego police officer was injured Tuesday during a foot pursuit with theft suspects in San Ysidro.

The incident began at San Ysidro Boulevard near the Cesar Chavez Community Park when a police officer and his partner tried to stop two possible theft suspects.

An officer attempted to deploy his Taser when one of the suspects reached for his waistband, but the officer lost his footing and fell to the ground.

Officers searched the area for the two men, but did not initially find them.

The two suspects, one juvenile and one adult, were later taken into custody.

The officer was taken to Sharp Coronado Hospital with minor injuries, but was later released.
