Agents Seize Heroin, Cocaine In I-8 Traffic Stops

SAN DIEGO -- U.S. Border Patrol agents seized heroin and cocaine valued at nearly $465,000 in two separate traffic stops, 10News reported.Last Friday, agents stopped two vehicles at a checkpoint on Interstate 8 in Pine Valley, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.In the first seizure, CBP officials said agents stopped to inspect a Chevrolet Malibu and found 10 bundles of cocaine in a secret compartment above the exhaust system.
Later in the day, agents searched a Dodge Grand Caravan and uncovered an access panel to a secret compartment in the rear wheel wells of the vehicle. The compartment held 8 bundles of heroin, CBP officials said.The drivers and drugs in each incident were turned over to a multi-agency, anti-drug task force. A 14-year-old passenger in the Dodge was turned over to Port of Entry Port Enforcement.
