SAN DIEGO -- A California Highway Patrol officer today found the body of a man who apparently crashed a bicycle and hit his head on the bike path along Pacific Highway, police said.

The officer was driving in the 4800 block of Pacific Highway around 8 a.m. on Sunday when he noticed the body of a man on the bike path, San Diego police Sgt. Ramona Hastings said.

The man may have fallen off his bike and hit his head on a rock, she said. His name was being withheld until his next of kin could be told.
