SAN DIEGO -- One person was injured Friday when a car skidded off Interstate 5 in the Bay Park area near Sea World and crashed into Tecolote Creek, according to the CHP.

The crash was reported about 11:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The sedan came to rest in about two feet of water with one person inside, the CHP reported.

Medics took the person to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

The accident led to heavy midday congestion in the area, prompting the CHP to issue a traffic advisory.
